I used to work in the Heaven & Hell coffee bar, in the back kitchen making sandwiches and snacks. It was poorly paid, about 2/6d per hour. Very late finish, so I left as I was working during the day in HM Treasury! Later when I moved to Soho (Peter Street) and had a job in a Mayfair office, I worked in Le Macabre some evenings/
